Before departing Shearwater, we stopped at the fuel dock to buy diesel fuel. We paid $2.12 Canadian for each liter of diesel fuel. After buying diesel, we got underway at 8:15 AM for Green Island anchorage.
Along the way, we took a brief detour to visit Namu. BC Packers ran a fish cannery here from the 1930s to the 1980s. At its height, BC Packers had a staff of 400 working at the cannery in Namu. Low fish prices and high transportation costs in the 1980s took its toll, and BC Packers closed the cannery. When BC Packers sold the site in the 1990s, the new owners attempted to create a resort. That failed. The site is now unoccupied and the old cannery building are collapsing.

Mary saw another Race to Alaska participant while we were underway. Team "Ruf Duck" was sailing up Fitz Hugh Sound as we were powering in the opposite direction. They are sailing a 31' Farrier F9R trimaran.
We arrived at Green Island anchorage at 2:30.
