Sunday June 4: Shearwater BC

A rain storm arrived last evening. Today was cold, windy, and occasionally heavy rain fell.

The boat yard at Shearwater is closed until Monday morning. Scheduling a haul out, inspection, and potential repair must wait until Monday.

I replaced the 30 amp circuit breaker that I had installed to power the Starlink inverter with a larger 40 amp circuit breaker. When Starlink is attempting to connect to its satellite network, it uses a lot of power. When doing this, it sometimes caused the 30 amp breaker to trip. The 40 amp breaker seems to solve this problem.

The rain revealed a small leak in the opening hatch over the navigation table. It is too wet to fix the problem now, but I will need to deal with it as soon as things dry out.

Mary talked with about a dozen people who are taking part in a ten day, 1000 mile trip between Seattle WA and Ketchikan AK. They are making the trip on jet skis. The trip is described here. They are delayed here in Shearwater because one jet ski is having a battery problem. They wear a dry suit when riding their jet skis. They stop each evening for food and sleep. They seem to be enjoying the trip and are in high spirits.
