We departed Shilshole Marina at 8:00 AM for Port Townsend. The conditions were excellent. It was sunny and we had an ebb tidal current helping us along our way. We arrived in Port Townsend shortly after noon. We took on fuel and headed to our guest slip at Boat Haven Marina in Port Townsend.
I stopped by Port Townsend Rigging to visit with Sarah Kolbeck, its owner. She and her daughter are taking their small Thunderbird sail boat out for the Memorial Day weekend. They have simple accommodations on the boat that allow them to camp out for the weekend.
Sarah was holding the package containing the Katadyn water maker rebuild kit I had ordered from Defender Marine. I also received an overnight order from Amazon. I needed an external disk enclosure to house the SSD disk drive from my old laptop. This allowed me to access the personal files from my old Dell laptop.
In the evening, Mary cooked all of our remaining potatoes. We are planning to cross the Straight of Juan de Fuca and enter Canada tomorrow. Canada is strict about what raw foods we can bring into Canada. We are trying to use up anything that might otherwise confiscate.
I spent about a hour talking with Perry Neichoy who recently bought a Valiant 42. He trucked the boat from the East Coast to Port Townsend to have it worked on here in Port Townsend by the Shipwrights Collective. He is really excited to have the boat and is expending a lot of time and money to improve his boat.
We plan to depart for Canada in the morning.
