Tuesday November 12, 2013: Baja Naval Marina, Ensenada Baja California del Norte

We enjoyed our stay in Ensenada. One of the highlights was trying to find the best fish tacos in town. Eraldo recommended a taco stand which we tried on Monday evening and liked very much. On Tuesday we reported how much we liked the first taco stand and he said that his wife recommended a different taco stand. We did a taste test that afternoon having one fish taco at the stand his wife recommended and another at the stand he had suggested. Both were so good it was hard to tell which was better.

We cleared into Mexico on Tuesday morning. Thanks to the paperwork that Eraldo prepared and the single location containing all of the Mexican officials, the process was fairly quick and painless. I struggled with Spanish but we got through the process in about two hours. The most difficult part was getting the Temporary Import Permit. It requires have the boat hull id number and the engine serial number.

On Tuesday evening Carlos and I went to a frozen yogurt store. While talking with the young man who was working there we learned that he want to become a computer programmer. I spent time talking about Java versus C++ and explained that he could learn either and had a good start on learning the other. I explained that he could download all of the C++ tools for free from Microsoft.com. I also told him about Coursera and the other free online university classes. I hope he follows up on the advice. He seemed genuinely interested.
