We departed Jaltemba at about 8:30 for La Cruz de Huanacaxtle. The wind was light all morning and we motored at about 5.8 knots. In the afternoon the wind increased to over 30 knots and we motor sailed.
We arrived at La Cruz at about 14:30 and bought fuel at the La Cruz fuel dock. We then called the marina office on the VHF radio and secured slip 4B4 in Marina Riviera Nayarit. After docking at the marina, we walked up to the marina office to register. Blanca in the marina office helped us complete the needed paperwork. We mentioned that we were planning to take a tour of the interior. She gave us advice on where to visit and she promised to check on buses to Guadalajara, our first stop on the tour.
We were greeted by Bruce from “Calou” shortly after we returned from the marina office. He invited us to join him and his wife Pascal on their boat for cocktails. We joined them and talked about our trip to the interior. They had made a similar trip by rental car and had wonderful pictures of their trip. They also showed us a picture album of their cruise from San Francisco, to Mexico, the Marquesan Islands, the Tuamotu Islands, Tahiti and Moorea, the Hawaii Islands, and back to San Francisco.
In the evening we visited the kid’s carnival in the town square, bought tacos from a street vendor, and ice cream from the local Michoacán ice cream shop.
