I departed Friday Harbor before 7:00 AM, with the intention of sailing to Port Townsend Washington. Within 30 minutes of my departure, I encounter heavy fog. Visibility was reduced to 200 yards or less. I decided to continue by relying on my radar and AIS transmitter/receiver. The AIS and radar detected a single large ship and it was several miles away. There were only a hand full of small vessels and only one was close to me. It was travelling in the same direction I was. It was no threat.
After two hours, the fog began to lift. Withing three hours, the fog lifted entirely. When the sun fully appeared it revealed a beautiful landscape. Since I was making excellent progress with a helpful tidal current pushing me along, I decided to bypass Port Townsend and continue to Shilshole Marina in Seattle. I arrived at Shilshole Marina at 4:45 PM.
I took an Uber to pick up antifreeze for the diesel engine and line to secure the idle halyards. I found both at Fisheries Supply.
I am preparing to fly to California for some routine medical appointments in early July.
